How to Donate to Cayuga Outrigger Canoe Club

Cayuga Outrigger Canoe Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the aloha spirit of Hawai’i to Ithaca. We accomplish this primarily through paddling a six person Hawai’ian outrigger canoe (wa’a) from May to October and competing in races along the East coast. We also hold community events such as film screenings to showcase the culture and history surrounding outrigger canoes in Hawai’i and Polynesia and educational seminars on cold water safety.

We can accept financial donations through the Amazon Payments link and Google Checkout link below. Any amount you are able to give is appreciated. Please enter your donation amount in the appropriate box next to the “Donate” button of your choice. You will be redirected to Amazon or Google to complete payment. If you would like to donate something other than money to the club, please email info@cayugaoutrigger.com with the details and we’ll be happy to consider it. All donations are tax deductible as we are a non-profit organization (501(c) 3 status is pending).

Special Sponsorship Opportunities Available for the First Annual Cayuga Ho’e

Cayuga Hoe Map

Cayuga Ho'e Map

This August 29 the Cayuga Outrigger Canoe Club will paddle of the length of Cayuga Lake and partner with the Ithaca Kiwanis Club in holding a Lu’au at Stewart Park in Ithaca, NY. The paddle is called ‘The Cayuga Ho’e’.

The Cayuga Ho’e may be the first time the entire length of Cayuga Lake has been traversed, non-stop in an outrigger canoe! We are undertaking this challenge to raise publicity for our club, but more importantly to raise funds to further youth paddling opportunities in the Ithaca area. The funds raised will be used by Cayuga Outrigger and the Ithaca Youth Bureau to establish a youth outrigger program and purchase equipment to support this program. Proceeds from the Kiwanis Lu’au will be under their control.

We are working as individual club members to raise funds through friends and family but are also approaching local businesses about sponsorship opportunities. The Kiwanis Lu’au will be open to the public via ticket sales and we expect to draw 100-200 people to Stewart Park for this event in addition to having various media outlets cover our progress along the lake.

While this is the first year for the Cayuga Ho’e, we hope to turn it into an annual event that will attract a large number of out of town visitors to both paddle with us and enjoy the lu’au.
